“Ask for help, not because you are weak. But because you want to remain strong” Les Brown
There are three levels of growth, and we all have gone through all three as part of our normal upbringing. I would like to represent them in a new way that can help us in our never-ending, journey of becoming a better person.
First level Dependence
This is when we rely on others. As a kid, we rely on our parents for food and protection. We rely on the school to teach us. In our developmental process, this is when we learn as much as we can.
Second level Independence
Here is when we start to do things on our own. This is where we prove that we can take care of our selves. And for a lot of people, this is where they stop. In the I can do it phase.
Third level Interdependence
The last and the most important is interdependence, this is when we know that we need help. This is when start looking for mentors and coaches. People that can help us achieve our dreams.
The true achievers in any given field know that they cant do it all alone. That is the reason the top performers have the best coaches and mentors. If they want to remain at the top, they know that they need all the helps they can get. As Les Brown says “its hard to look at the big picture when you are inside the frame”. You need to surround your self with people that see creates in you, because you cant do it all alone.
Thank you,
